Hector Kriete
Hector Kriete is an Austin-based ceramic artist who has been working in the local community for the past five years. He found his passion for ceramics at an early age and began his formal studies at Los Angeles Harbor College. He’s worked with local pottery studios as a production thrower, sells his work at local shops, participates in local and regional art festivals, and teaches pottery classes.
Hector's work is reminiscent of the artesian street markets he grew up with in Colombia, and is inspired by the lush, earthy, and colorful tones found in nature. He throws on the potter’s wheel and fires at his home studio. The application of red iron oxide stain accents the throwing lines and Hector’s unique glazes bring his work alive.
